Stop spinning your wheels

You've probably already heard of it. The Wheel of Life is the Number One coaching tool that consistently keeps on giving. It’s ‘Coaching 101’. For a while I was wary of using it as I thought it was too hackneyed to keep pulling it out of my increasingly sophisticated range of coaching tools and techniques. I soon realised I would be depriving my clients of a fabulous tool that can be used by anyone, anywhere, for any situation.

And that’s the beauty of it – its simplicity. You can use it to review how you feel about your whole life, or zoom in on a particular aspect, such as health, money or family life. It’s incredibly versatile and, from experience, I know it’s the one tool that every client says gives them greater clarity on where to focus their efforts. It pins down what needs to change, and it gives you options and choices for where to focus first.

Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can create it on the back of an envelope. You can use it annually, monthly, weekly or just at times when you’re feeling reflective and want to assess how you feel now. It’s a great opener for looking at what you might want to work on with a coach, in order to achieve a better balance. Make it a regular practice.
